Snip snip.  It’s okay to cut somebody off if they are unhealthy for your life. It is perfectly fine.

Too often we think we are not keeping it real, or we are not being loyal, if we cut someone off. That is not always true.

How do you know if you need to cut somebody off?  Every time you hang around this person you feel frustrated, angry or down and out.

Do they only speak about negativity, drama or gossip? That is when you should cut that person off.

If it is a family member, you can’t cut that person off because you are stuck with them for life. Blood is thicker than water.  Family matters.

However, you can limit how much time you spend with them.

Once you cut someone off because they are a negative influence in your life, don’t feel bad about it.  If it’s to this point, they would do the same to you without hesitation.

You have to remember this is your life, your sanity and your peace of mind.

Before cutting a person off you should have a mature talk with them individually.  You should inform them about their negative actions.  You should be honest with them and tell them.

How do they respond?

If they really value the friendship, they may check themselves and thank you for caring about them enough to get their act together.

Or they may resist and bring more hostility. Snip snip.

We have one life.  Keep God first and make sure you have positive people around you who allow you to shine and be as great as you were meant to be.

Thanks for the read and see you on the court,
JD
