@BallStateMVB Hosts Saint Francis, #14 Penn State on ESPN3

watch-espnBall State Sports Link opens its Spring 2017 semester Thursday with four productions in seven days for ESPN 3.

Sports Link will produce both matches of the Don Shondell/Active Ankle Challenge, followed by Mid-American Conference men’s and women’s college basketball Jan. 17 and 18.

The nationally ranked Ball State men’s volleyball team hosts Saint Francis and No. 14 Penn State, respectively, in the 2017 Don Shondell/Active Ankle Challenge. Both matches start at 7:30 p.m.

Junior Mick Tidrow and sophomore Alex Thomas will be the announce team for both matches.  Freshman Jack Kizer is the sideline reporter each night.

Ball State men’s volleyball, ranked 15th in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll, is coming off a 2-1 record to open the season last week in Hawaii.  The Cardinals defeated Princeton (3-2) and Erskine (3-0), before falling to No. 7 Hawaii (3-1) in the championship match of the Outrigger Hotels Invitational.

In Honolulu, freshman Matt Szews and Nick LaVanchy were named to the All-Tournament Team.  Szews led the team in kills in all three matches, while LaVanchy averaged 2.33 digs per set.

Sports Link turns its attention to #MACtion just four days later as Ball State men’s basketball hosts Central Michigan Jan. 17 and women’s basketball hosts Eastern Michigan Jan. 18.  Both games tip at 7 p.m.

UnknownDuring the Fall 2016 semester, Sports Link produced televised contests for women’s volleyball, soccer, field hockey, men’s swimming, women’s swimming, women’s basketball and men’s basketball.  The 2017 lineup features men’s volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, swimming and diving, baseball and tennis.
