Ball State Sports Link opens its 2018 spring semester with two live productions on ESPN3 this weekend as the No. 14 Ball State Men’s Volleyball teams hosts No. 6 Brigham Young and Stanford in Muncie.

Both matches, slated for a 7:30 p.m. start, will be streamed live on ESPN 3, available in the ESPN and the WatchESPN apps and on DIRECTV.

The Cardinals are 2-0 after freshman  Ben Chinnici picked up his first MIVA Offensive Player of the Week leading Ball State two a pair of opening-weekend victories. The outside attacker finished the weekend with a .533 hitting percentage, 4.67 kills per set and 1.83 digs per set.

The weekend matches will also have a unique USA Volleyball connection.

Ball State sophomore Matt Szews, the 2017 Co-MIVA Freshman of the Year, was one of 20 athletes selected in 2017 to compete for the USA Junior National Team at the World Championships in the Czech Republic.

Sports Link’s weekend talent team features senior Mick Tidrow and junior Alex Thomas on the call, with sophomore Preston Husband as the sideline announcer and halftime host.

Junior Sam Ahrens will direct both matches, while sophomore Luke Foster is the weekend’s technical director.
