The brooms were out at Worthen Arena on Oct. 26 as Ball State women’s volleyball defeated Mid-American Conference foe Northern Illinois.

Led by Junior Sydnee VanBeek with 14 kills and five blocks and senior Ellie Dunn with 14 kills and one block, the Cardinals took down the Huskies in straight sets.

Dunn picked up her 1,000th career kill in the second set. She has now tallied 1,007 kills while hitting .393 in her career.

It was a team effort all across the board with freshman Cathryn Starck contributing two service aces, the first of which helped Ball State to a 12-0 run.

The following night, Oct. 27,  the Cardinals celebrated Alumni Night with a win over MAC foe Western Michigan in straights sets. It was the Cardinals eighth sweep in their last 10 matches.

Junior setter Amber Seaman raised her career aces to 101, and is now tied for 15th in program history and is only 12 aces shy of breaking into the top ten.

Early in the first set Seaman’s assist to Jessica Lindsey was the 3,000th of her career. Seaman tallied 30 assists in Saturday’s sweep of Western Michigan.

The Cardinals are back in action against Central Michigan next Friday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. Listen to Ball State Women’s Volleyball on SL Digital.
