Sports Link To Broadcast 2019 @BSUHomecoming Bed Race

The students of Ball State Sports Link will produce the first-ever live stream of the 40th annual Homecoming Bed Race.

One of Homecoming’s most exciting traditions, the Bed Race has run every Friday of Homecoming week since 1980.

In the past, Sports Link students have competed, won and produced stories about the race, but never broadcast the event before.

Originating from Sports Link’s Tricaster flypack, the broadcast will feature six cameras and a talent studio set to cover every angle of the tradition along Riverside Avenue in front of the new Health Professions Building.

The broadcast, with several special guests, will air LIVE on Sports Link’s and Ball State’s overall Facebook page, beginning Friday at noon.

Each Bed Race team consists of five people – four pushing the bed, and one riding on it. Teams will compete against the clock, two teams at a time, on a 100-yard course.

Freshman Michael Garbarz is producing the broadcast with sophomore Tristan Russell serving as director.

The on-air team includes graduate student Mick Tidrow (host), freshman and member of the Ball State Men’s Swimming team Jared Holder (co-host) and senior Rachel Berry (course reporter).
